Almost there

Posted on August 16, 2018 by Basic Income Participant

I was not aware of this program till a friend informed me of the information session that was held at Beasley Community Center. I gladly went to it and found out I was able to apply. I am a 63 year old Native senior. This program would have led me to my CPP at 65.

Last November I got my first payment and was so happy. I could finally start to pay off all those payday loans I had been getting.  I had got myself into a jam and this was a way out and to see daylight.  Within 3 months I  paid them all off and have never looked back. I was now able to have life insurance , burial insurance and give a donation to a local charity, pay bills on time every month.  I had breast cancer that year and was now looking at treatment. This extra money helped with certain foods and medical supplies that are not covered.  I had enough to live on and less stress at a time I didn’t need stress.

I would like to see the program continue to see the results and let it come to a final end with some hope for the future.  I have benefitted from this program so much , as I am sure most that are on it have.  Now I worry if all that uplift was for nothing.
