OBIP saved my life, but for how long now???

Posted on August 18, 2018 by Basic Income Participant

A while ago I ended up on the street for over a year due to back injury that has prevented me from keeping employment and losing all my ID.

I was bed ridden, but on the street so there was no bed… I was just laying down in the woods most of the time waiting to die at the ripe old age if 29…

My doctor says I’m too young to have anything wrong with me and an MRI is too expensive to check my back so I just have to deal with it and let the vicious cycle continue…

Thankfully I got on OBIP a few months back and now have my life back together for the most part and I can get to physiotherapy weekly and I’m saving up to get an MRI on my own but it’s not cheap and after life expenses it will still take me a few months to save it all up.

I got accepted into Niagara college and planned on attending once I get my medical stuff taken care and I can actually stand up and sit down for an extended period of time like a normal person does again.

But now with the cancellation I can’t believe I was given a chance to live again and had it taken away.

I hope the others affected are healthy and have family and friends to support them because if not, they are going to literally end up wolf food in the winter like I’ll become out in the woods.
