Single mother with daughter with life threatening disability

Posted on August 18, 2018 by Basic Income Participant

Am a single mother with 3 children. My oldest daughter is 8 years old. She is severely disabled and requires 24 hour care for which I am the only provider. She has many appointments with specialists every month and will soon need multiple heart surgeries. Therefore am unable to work. She needs me to be here for her. The basic income pilot program has relieved so much stress and drastically improved our lives. It also ensures my children are able to eat healthy, whole foods. I have been able to gain more independence and confidence which opens doors for the future should our situation change. Although we do our best no matter what the situation is, me and my children have definitely had a positive, uplifting experience on this program.
